Sadly, the vast majority of Americans are, in fact, closet socialists and totalitarians--and they don't even know it. We've become so stupid as to no longer recognize stupidity. The basis of freedom (defined, in the government arena, as freedom from government) is individual liberty. Socialism is the polar opposite, placing the group before the individual, as if the group weren't made of individuals and as if the group were an entity in and of itself. I suppose I should blog something now that America has elected a new President. There will be those [idiots] who always bring up the issue of respect for authority. As a wise sage (my wife) has said, one can respect the office of authority without respecting the man in the office. The Presidency is indeed a noble office with Godly origins and a decent job description (Article II of the Constitution). I respect that greatly. The man, however, deserves no respect. I suppose we see so much of this sort of thing that we can be inured to it, but sometimes it sticks in my craw. Have a look at this video, and then ask yourself what would have been the response -- from the police and the media -- if it had been KKK members, rather than the Black Panthers, outside the polling place.
