Does the Constitution obey the Word of God?
Submitted by Dave on Wed, 2009-01-07 12:50. Bible | Doctrine | LawAs I was writing another post, I stumbled upon the question of whether the Constitution is entirely obedient to the Word of God. I found that I did not have a clear answer. I still don't, even as I post this, though I intend to look into the matter.
Does anyone else have an opinion on this? (I mean, besides Wayne, from whom I am certain we will hear very soon.

From Baal to Barack
Submitted by Dave on Fri, 2008-12-19 10:10. Bible | ChurchAs this column indicates, the distance from ancient Baal worship to modern leftism isn't exactly a giant leap. It's actually barely a step. And they call themselves "progressives."
God's Secret Name
Submitted by Wayne on Thu, 2008-12-11 09:15. BibleThe tetragrammaton, the four-letter Hebrew name of God that nobody really knows for sure how to pronounce or what it means, is translated in Exodus as "I AM". Hebrew is a phonetic language, meaning each letter stands for a sound, just like English. However, Hebrew can also be an ideographic language like Chinese or ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, where each symbol stands for an idea or a whole word. This ideographic perspective of Hebrew isn't used much anymore, but it's valid. Using this, the tetragrammaton, יהוה, means: » read more »

Ezekiel and America
Submitted by Dave on Fri, 2008-10-17 22:27. Bible | Church | Confession | Holiness | IsraelLately, I have been reading the book of Ezekiel. In some of the early chapters, I have been struck with the manner in which the events and visions described in God's Word parallel events that we see in America today. » read more »
Sukkot
Submitted by Charla on Sun, 2008-10-12 22:01. Bible | Messianic | TorahHappy Feast of the Tabernacles! I learned today that this feast is supposed to happen this week from a wonderful teaching at church today. It was a little weird only in the fact that this "church" is in the middle of a 40 day fast, and here's this guy teaching us about a feast to be had this week! And he was really excited about it. » read more »

The New Testament In Scots
Submitted by MerelyChristian on Wed, 2008-08-13 15:07. BibleThe New Testament In Scots, tranlsated by William Laughton Lorimer (LL.D, F.B.A.) (1885 - 1967), was first published in 1983 by Southside (Publishers) Ltd, Edinburg, Scotland. I can't remember where I ran across this work, but it was the audio recording of the four gospels by Tom Fleming that fascinated me. This is a new translation, directly from the best Greek texts available. The written tranlsation places the story of the woman caught in adultery, and a few other doubtful passages, in an appendix, but Mr. Fleming (O.B.E., C.V.O) reads them in context. » read more »
Timeline
Submitted by Wayne on Wed, 2008-08-13 13:40. BibleAfter much research, I've become convinced that Archbishop Ussher's historical timeline (the history of the world beginning at creation) is correct. His Annals of the World is a comprehensive analysis of Biblical timelines, effectively resolving all apparent contradictions (e.g., the Israelite sojourn into Egypt). Masterfully done.
Women in the church
Submitted by Wayne on Thu, 2008-07-31 11:32. Bible | DoctrineIn 1 Timothy 2:11-15, Paul wrote:
A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint. » read more »
